針對布魯塞爾恐攻案，比利時警方24、25日在布市陸續拘捕了8名疑犯，但未公布遭拘捕者身分；德國則有2人落網；法國警方在巴黎逮捕到1名男子，宣布及時阻止了另一起恐怖襲擊。
比利時警方於24日深夜在布魯塞爾斯哈爾貝克區展開攻堅。據報導，警方出動特種部隊和直升機，目擊者指出，攻堅時數度傳出爆炸聲。警方逐戶搜查，先後拘捕8名疑犯，唯比國警方迄今未說明這8人的身分，以及他們是否與22日恐攻爆炸案和去年巴黎恐攻事件有關。
同一天，法國警方在巴黎西北郊阿讓特伊市逮捕1名男子，據報導，該名男子曾短暫進入敘利亞，接受「伊斯蘭國」（IS）訓練，其正在策畫的一項襲擊陰謀已進入「最後階段」。
法國警方為打擊此一恐怖襲擊企圖，工作了數星期，並與歐盟國家相關機構密切合作。目前尚無確切證據顯示，這一恐襲企圖與布魯塞爾或巴黎恐攻有關。
布魯塞爾恐攻案發生後，警方發現，18日在布魯塞爾落網的巴黎恐攻主犯阿布岱斯蘭，曾與布市爆炸案主犯之一易卜拉辛．巴克勞伊，以假名租同一棟公寓，比國警方正全力釐清兩人關係。
另外，比國檢方認為，布魯塞爾恐攻案，有兩組恐怖分子涉案，一組在機場和捷運製造自殺爆炸襲擊，另一組計畫在市中心槍擊屠殺民眾。阿布岱斯蘭可能扮演「指揮官」角色。他原本拒絕被引渡到法國，布市恐攻案發生後，已表示不會抗拒引渡法國。
布魯塞爾恐攻案中，笫3名機場襲擊者身分尚未確認，且仍然在逃；另有報導指出，警方還在搜捕另一名攜帶著一只大書包、與哈立德．巴克勞伊同時出現在捷運的男子。
「歐洲刑警組織」（Europol）總監溫賴特告訴英國廣播公司（BBC），歐洲聖戰組織的網絡「或許比我們起初所認為來得更龐大」。令人更擔心的是，目前歐洲大約有5000人接受IS號召，前往敘利亞和伊拉克受武裝訓練，其中部分人士已潛回歐洲，伺機在歐洲本土發動恐怖襲擊。
